Job Description:

Metabolomic Diagnostics Ltd is an early stage biotechnology company located in Cork, Ireland. The company is developing novel and innovative tests to predict pregnancy related complications prior to their clinical manifestation by the detection and quantification of metabolites present in the blood during pregnancy. We are currently seeking an experienced and enthusiastic individual to work as a Laboratory Technician to join our R&D team. The successful applicant should have experience working in a regulated laboratory environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work as part of the Product Development team on the day-to-day lab activities
  • Aliquoting and labelling of reagents
  • Ensure equipment is maintained (calibration, cleaning) in accordance with GLP requirements
  • Control of R&D consumable and reagent stocks
  • Control and filing of lab record sheets
  • Actively participate in drafting of new SOPs and SOP revisions in coordination with QA and R&D Scientists
  • Collaborate with Research scientists in the development of robust pre-analytical sample procedures
  • Assist Development Scientists with review and checks of laboratory notebooks, reports and other relevant documentation
  • Support the management of the company’s biorepository, including use of biobanking software, adherence to best biorepository governance practices and physical sample handling
  • Maintain R&D lab standards in line with Metabolomic Diagnostics EHS & Quality requirements

 Essential Requirements:

  • 3rd level degree in Biomedical Science, Analytical Sciences or related field
  • Ability to work without direct supervision within a team environment
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Able to maintain complete and accurate records and work in accordance with established procedures
  • Calm under pressure and in stressful situations
  • Good time management skills and ability to meet and accommodate multiple deadlines simultaneously
  • Flexible approach is necessary to work in a fast-paced innovative environment
  • Proactive and self-motivated

Desirable Experience:

  • Relevant industry or clinical laboratory experience (minimum 2 years)
  • Experience in biological sample handling and sample preparation would be an advantage
  • Experience in clinical diagnostics / clinical studies would be beneficial
  • Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practice and current Health and Safety Regulations is preferred
